1st Place

The Winning Team          Roelof Bruins and David McIntyre

“Our team has done a fantastic job fixing the car overnight after our accident in qualifying. We started from the back but had a good start, and we managed to stay out of trouble despite the accidents at the front. I had a long first stint and went for the pit stop when the rain started to pour, and I think in hindsight that was the right way to go.”

-          Roelof Bruins

“We were involved in an accident during qualifying, but our engineers did an amazing job at getting us back on the road quickly. Our main focus was to bring the car back safely but we are obviously very happy to finish on top. I am very happy to be partnering up with Roelof, whom I’ve known for 10 years, and hope to have a good race tomorrow.”

-          David McIntyre

Triumphs over Fickle Weather

天气多变,实力取胜

David noted that they had practiced in all weathers and had a plan for all eventualities so is confident about tomorrow’s race.

Roelof on weather conditions: “We were driving on a set of slicks when the it started to rain so it presented quite a challenge, but we are trying our best to adapt to the track.”

 2nd Place Place

ZIA FEA Racing  Zhang Dongqi and Yin Jinge

“I think my teammate put in an impressive performance. The safety car was called back out only one lap after we changed to the Pirelli wets. Therefore, it was a pleasant surprise to find ourselves on the podium. This is part of the charm of racing!”

-          Zhang Dongqi

“We’re very happy. The weather was different from the forecast. We would have originally been happy with a place on the podium, but taking home two prizes was very unexpected. I like this unexpected weather and track – it’s been a pleasant surprise for us so far!”

-          Yin Jinge

3rd Place

ZIA FEA Racing  Ma Qinghua and Yang Zhiyi

“When we set off, we both had the weather and the number of accidents that happened this morning in mind. Our original plan was for my partner to stay consistent and safe, while I went on the attack. At first we were a little behind, but then it started raining heavily. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a chance to use the plan today as the situation was very complicated.”

-          Ma Qinghua

“Everything was going well at the start of the race – we were in pole position and the car was running well. We even took the first few turns even more quickly than some of the cars in the GTC class. We lost a few places, but were still focused on pursuing the cars in front of us. After we had slipped a few places and were in the process of changing drivers, it suddenly started raining heavily. Zhuhai’s weather really is totally unpredictable. It put both the drivers and the teams to the test, and we needed this experience.”
