“First, I would like to thank my team. Without their tactical assistance, we wouldn’t have been able to secure the win. Although our starting position was further down the field, we managed to gradually regain ground. We were very lucky today, and the rest of our teammates were also very happy with our progress.”

-          Wang Liang

“The race was very fiercely fought, but the team performed well throughout. My teammate Wang Liang was also in top condition. We had good communications with the team during tyre change and it was vital to our victory.”

-          Martin Rump

The Weather: How the Rain Changed the Race

Wang Liang described how unstable the weather conditions were on the tracks: “When we started the race it was dry, but it started raining again halfway through. Using dry tyres in the wet was very demanding for both the cars and the drivers.” Martin Rump once again emphasised the importance of correct tyre strategies, and how tyre temperature and pressure can influence the outcome of the race.

Both Wang Liang and Martin Rump were very pleased with the outcome of the race. The proper tyre management helped lead them to victory. Both halves of this partnership have always had nothing but good things to say about one another. Rump was pleased with his own performance, and hopes to keep improving so that he is even quicker in the next race.

2nd Place

FAW T2M          Bao Jinlong and Martin Ragginger

“Because we didn’t participate in qualifying, we started the race at the back of the pack. However, we were able to make a comeback and ended up with good results. After handing over the car to Martin, he was also very quick, and we were very happy that we ended up coming in second.”

-          Bao Jinlong

“I’d like to thank my team. It’s because of their support and cooperation that we were able to get such good results.”

-          Martin Ragginger

3rd Place

Audi Hong Kong                                Marchy Lee and Alex Au

“The Safety Car and issues with some cars in the pit lane have lifted us to third place, which I’m quite surprised about. I hope we can get better with each race.”

-          Marchy Lee

“We were lucky enough to take a place on the podium because several cars were stuck in the pit lane during SC period. As we didn’t score any points last time, we are not carrying any success ballast. I hope we could find a better way onto the podium next time. It was a shame that the race had to be stopped because of the rain, as I had just switched to the wet tyres. If the race had continued, I would have been able to launch another attack.”

-          Alex Au
