Bentley Team Absolute sent three Bentley Continental GT3s into the fray during the 2017 China GT opener in Beijing. Even though the tight and narrow circuit at the Beijing Goldenport Motor Park doesn't play to the advantage of a Bentley Continental GT3, the team showed off their prowess and had a fruitful weekend.
During the first round of the Beijing race weekend, the #88 car, driven by Adderly Fong and Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak, snatched third overall for Bentley Team Absolute. In the #5 car, Andrew Kim and Weiron Chen claimed fifth position in round one, with H.G. and Alexandre Imperatori in the #9 car also finishing the race for Hard Memory Bentley Team Absolute.
Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak in #88, Andrew Kim in #5 and H.G. in #9 guided Bentley Team Absolute’s three cars through the first half of the race. Starting in fourth, Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak put on an impressive show from the moment the race started. The #88 Bentley Continental GT3 slew the competition and raced ahead into second place, soon locking horns with the race leader to battle it out for first. After pit window opens, the #9 distinctively decorated “Hard Memory” car was among the first to make a stop, allowing Adderly Fong to recapture third place and Weiron Tan to fight it out to reclaim fifth. Finally, all three cars kept hold of their positions until the end of the race, with Adderly Fong/Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak finishing third, Andrew Kim/ Weiron Tan placing fifth and H.G./Alexandre Imperatori finishing the race without a hitch. In the GT Asia Cup standings, Adderly Fong and Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak and Weiron Tan and Andrew Kim are currently occupying the top two positions.
In round two of the Beijing opener, Adderly Fong and Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak went on the offensive, eventually netting them fourth place. Andrew Kim and Weiron Tan got off to a shaky start in the initial stages of the race, but soon regained their composure to gradually win back lost points. H.G. and Alexandre Imperatori also showed off their skills in this round.
Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak continued his heroic performance in the Bentley Continental GT3 of the first round in the initial stages, quickly coming out on top of the scramble for first after turn one, before being overtaken. After the window for pitting opened, Alexandre Imperatori achieved the fastest lap time of the whole race in the #9 Bentley. Adderly Fong also gave it his all, despite finding it hard to show off the full power of the Bentley on the narrow turns of the Goldenport track.
In the end, Adderly Fong and Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak claimed fourth overall in the GT3 class, while Andrew Kim and Weiron Tan clawed their way back after a shaky start and took seventh. Alexandre Imperatori and H.G. also completed their debut in China GT’s highest class of racing. In the GT Asia Cup standings, the #88 car won second in this group for Bentley Team Absolute, adding another trophy to their already impressive list of accolades.
Bentley Team Absolute has managed to achieve great results despite not being able to capitalise on the full power of their cars. Stay tuned for more exciting performances from Bentley Team Absolute!
