First Place
JRM Force China Bian Hao and Will Bamber
“We encountered some issues at the beginning of the race, but managed to overcome it without falling behind too much. After my teammate put in some very quick lap times, we managed to shorten the gap and finally finished first.”
-Will Bamber
“I’m very grateful to the team. It’s the first time we’ve come to Zhuhai and it didn’t start well. After the incident at the start of the race, we fought our way back from the back of the pack. I’d like to congratulate Huang Hsi Chan and Kimi Qin for finishing the race individually – they’ve both done incredibly well driving solo.”
-Bian Hao
Tactics
Bian Hao said that their main focus was to simply continue progressing without dropping down the leader board.
Weather
The weather in Zhuhai was scorching on the day of round four. Despite the hot weather, Bian Hao claims that the heat didn’t affect him too much and that he was happy with his performance.
The Showdown
”One of the most memorable moments of the race came during the showdown between Will Bamber and his rivals. He said, “I followed the first place car for about three laps before I had a chance to overtake. Kimi’s defence was very strong, but I continued to chip away at him until I had an opportunity to get to the front.”
Second Place
D2 Racing Huang Hsi Chan
“It was really hot today. We were lucky that there weren’t too many incidents and that the Safety Car once came out once. I had to take a very defensive line as the cars behind stayed very close. My main aim was simply to defend our position, but we had a stroke of luck in the final lap. The car in front faltered and we managed to move up into second place.”
Third Place
Spirit Z-Racing Kimi Qin
“In the last few laps, I felt that my tyres and brakes were going. Zhuhai is too hot – it really takes it out of you physically. I didn’t want to let my team or the fans down. I hope I can do even better next time!”
