The newly-evolved Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 is built in accordance with FIA GT3 regulations. The NISMO GT3 is a unique presence on the 2017 China GT grid, as it is the only Japanese marque among its European peers.

The Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 boasts impressive craftsmanship and high performance. It is a showroom piece you put on a racetrack.

Aerodynamics

The Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3’s aerodynamic body design features carbon-fiber front and rear fascia, side sills and rear spoiler, and is built to be highly competitive on every track. Along with a massive wing and rear diffuser, the front bars on Nismo GT3 pushes the car down tight to the track. The GT3 rules allow it to have bigger tyres and a lot more aerodynamic downforce so it has awesome cornering capability.

Power

The GT3 sports front-mounted Nissan VR38DETT V6 twin-turbo engine and 6-speed sequential transmission. The GT3 has more grip, traction control and a real kick from the turbos, which is adjusted to each Series’ Balance of Performance requirement. At 1290kg, the GT3 is more than 500kg lighter than the road counterpart.

Control

Every fully FIA homologated GT3 car must begin life from road car stock, such as the car’s engine and body shell. One of the most significant changes made to the GT-R’s mechanicals is the transmission. In place of the road going cog-box is a race-specific Hewland 6-speed pneumatically controlled unit for providing quick and precise shifts.

Within the wheels of NISMO GT3 are a set of Brembo racing brakes, providing consistent stopping power for the car which on the heavier end of GT3 cars.

For the sake of weight control, very little of the GT-R road car interior is retained in the GT3, and the dashboard is replaced with a full carbon fibre. The NISMO GT3’s plumbed seat vents design sends cooled air directly to the driver’s head, and is a godsend for drivers racing in blazing heat.

In 2017, Spirit Z-Racing team is fielding two Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 cars in GT3 Class. The NISMO GT3 has earned a strong support base at China GT, and the fans are here to support Mr. Godzilla through to the end.
